A horse of that weight should probably need 5 teaspoons a day of MSM for maintenance and possibly 2 to 3 times that if trying to address anything like you are describing.
I believe that a site called www.netfilly.com uses MSM for horses and may be able to help you more with dosing.

Which is when a joint swells due to the bone gorwing to fast or rapid weight gain. He weighs appox 500lbs what would be the correct dose for him and has anyone used msm for horses and its result.
