When should I reduce MSM dosage?

I have two questions:

I recently bought some MSM pills for my mother. You recommend starting at a low level then slowly increase the amount up to 6-8 teaspoons per day. How long should I stay at this level before I reduce to a maintenance level?

My other question is my mother is taking ZETIA to lowering her cholesterol. She is also taking EVISTA for her bones. Can she take MSM with these two medications?
