I've been taking between 6-8 mgs of MSM internally and have mixed my own topical solution of MSM and Aloe Vera Gel. I apply that 2x's/day. I've been doing this since mid-April. I have noticed some small improvement (fading), but with the embarrassing effects of Melasma, any improvement is good. I would like to order from this site, but prefer the capsules to the powder. I would also like to try your topical lotions, since the consistancy of mine has really gotten watery. Can you recommend somethings along those lines Kerry? I would like to order ASAP.
: I think my wife's took between six months and a year of constant MSM use (internally only) before hers faded and didn't come back (at least not nearly as noticeable). She was not trying to address the small area of melasma that she had and it just happened as a "side-effect". I would think that lotion applied consistently to the area would do even better than internally if done consistently and long enough. But then again, not everyone gets the same results.
: : I was up to 7 tsp. a day for several weeks. I wasn't using the lotion though. I didn't notice any change at all. melasma tends to 'fade' in the winter and darken in the summer when exposed to sunlight. I'm using sunscreen to avoid having a face that looks like a world map this summer!- but I can still see the melasma.
: : : It may take longer, and you may need to work up to taking more internally (you didn't say how much you were taking). Are you also using the lotion on the melasma?
: : : : I have been using MSM since January and haven't noticed any change with my melasma (sorry)
: : : : : Others have reported some improvement by using MSM both internally and externally (as a lotion).
: : : : : : Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone has heard about MSM helping a skin condition called Melasma?
