You are correct that you started with too much MSM. And increasing each day would also not be a good thing in relation to trying to avoid detox symptoms.

Taking MSM once a day or twice a day is up to you. I was initially told that twice a day is best because we eliminate MSM so quickly. But my personal experience has been that it really didn't make any difference, so I went to taking the entire amount once a day for convenience.

I am not surprised by your report of re-experiencing some past problems (often called retracing). We have had several reports of people feeling the MSM was "attacking" their problems and initially making the problem worse before it fairly quickly got better than it was before starting on MSM.

Detox should go away within just a few days of stabilizing the amount of MSM you are taking. Drinking more water during detox does help. Also taking very warm baths (warm enough to make you sweat a little, but not pass out) helps quite a bit.

Whether you continue to take glucosamine or not is up to you, but clinical experience has shown that MSM and glucosamine combined provide more joint pain releif than either one alone.

: I have been taking Glucosamine and Chrond with MSM for sometime. I started taking MSM on 10/30/2005, out of a suggestion from a friend. She had me mega dosing (according to you) starting at 2000 mg in A.M and 2000 mg in P.M. (10 hours later) and increasing 1000 mg every day until I started to get relief from allergies. I have since backed off to 3000 mg. Now my questions are this, should I discontine use of Glucosamine? Should I be taking two doses of MSM one in A.M. and one in P.M.? I am going through headaches and muscle aches. I assumed this was detox. Some of my symtoms seem to be things in reverse that I have been able to get rid of in past. Is this part of detox of MSM? I lift 3 days a week and I am going through upper shoulder muscle aches, neck aches and of course headaches. I have gone through these headaches before, lasting this long. No one nor no test could explain headaches. Your input will be helpful.
