More than likely, it is the glucosamine causing your high reading, which may or may not be a false reading according to some web sites. Apparently some people (but not all) see their blood cholesterol levels rise with glucosamine use. See:

It is not known on the web sites that I saw whether this higher level translates to any health risks or whether it is just a false high reading.
To be on the safe side, you may want to just use chondroitin and MSM separately. We have each of them available as separate powder supplements.
: Hi, I have been taking glucosamine chondroiton for 5 months, and for the past 2 months have changed to a pill that also includes MSM. Could these pills, although seem to be helping general joint pain as well as knee pain, be elevating my cholesterol levels?
: Maybe it's just age, cause I am 60 yr old but not overweight at all and very active. Last year at this time I had a reading of 204, now my test came back recently at 290. Eating habits the same.
: Thanks,
